Monica Smith and Karla Lortz
Karla Lortz is Heidenreich's granddaughter. Her mother, Monica Smith (1929–2022), was the only child of Carl Heidenreich. Smith survived World War II in hiding in Germany as a child and arrived in the United States following the war.
