Dr. Alla Efimova named Executive Director of CHF
The Foundation is pleased to name Dr. Alla Efimova, Principal of Berkeley-based KunstWorks, as Executive Director. An art historian, curator, and former museum director, Efimova has worked with the art of Carl Heidenreich for over ten years. In 2004, she curated a major exhibition of Carl Heidenreich's abstract work along with his teacher's (Hans Hofmann) at the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive. In the same year, she curated a retrospective of Heidenreich's American work at Goethe Institut, New York and wrote an essay for the accompanying catalogue. As the Principal of KunstWorks, a firm specializing in strategies for artists' estates, Efimova advised Heidenreich's collectors and Foundation's trustees. "Carl Heidenreich's work is the hidden gem of Abstract Expressionism. Not only the artist' life is remarkable, but the the story of how his work has been saved and cared for by a group of dedicated collectors deserves its own page-turner. I am excited about sharing both with the world," says Efimova.
